Five-Day Intensive Portrait Sculpture Workshop for Continuing Education
Carbon and Earth Studio is pleased to propose a five-day sculpture workshop designed specifically for educators in the New England area as part of their continuing education requirements. This immersive program will enhance teachers’ understanding of three-dimensional form, material techniques, human anatomy, and hands-on sculptural methods. This interactive workshop will enrich their classroom instruction for understanding form and 3-D principles.
Workshop Details:
Title: Foundations of Portrait Sculpture: Anatomical Form, Structure, and Expression
Duration: 5 Days - 3 hour Sessions (Total of 15 studio hours, 15 PLU Credits)
Workshop Objectives:
Explore fundamental sculpture techniques, including additive and subtractive processes.
Develop a deeper understanding of anatomical form, proportion, and spatial relationships.
Create personal sculptural projects with individualized professional guidance.
Discuss effective ways to integrate sculptural techniques into the K-12 curriculum.
- Day 1: Introduction to sculpture, materials, composition & anatomical form
- Day 2: Starting the internal foundation of the sculptures
- Day 3: Anatomical study and application of cranial features
- Day 4: Fleshing out portraits, exploring anatomical principals
- Day 5: Refining and finishing busts with a discussion of educator integration strategies
